All part of a balanced lifestyle, below is a list of just some of the major events and activities on throughout the College year.
This is where the year begins. It’s a fantastically frantic and frenzied week, jam-packed with stacks of events all with one aim – to ensure you get to meet as many other students as possible. At its end you may be exhausted, but you’ll certainly feel at home here. And it happens all over again at the start of second semester to welcome new students into our community.
The College Club Sports Officers organises teams in a variety of sports each year to compete in the inter-College competition. Competition for the High Table Cup is very spirited and a large number of students become involved both as players and spectators. Competitions are held in swimming, tennis, debating, netball, volleyball, table tennis, basketball, soccer, hockey, Australian Rules football and athletics.
A formal event held in the Dining Hall, the Ball is acclaimed by many as the highlight of the year, The College Club committee works to ensure their well-kept secret theme is not revealed until the night.
An opportunity to direct, act, work backstage or assist with makeup and costumes. The College play represents another opportunity to explore your talents and interests. The hard work and commitment in rehearsals are appreciated by the audience over two nights.
The Revue is a light-hearted series of songs and skits about life here at St Mark’s – and it’s another opportunity for budding thespians to find their fifteen minutes of fame.
An event quite unique to St Mark’s – and one that’s top secret too. If you want to be one of those in the know, you’ll have to come along for this unique and fun experience.
An opportunity to hear speakers from a broad range of areas in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. Held in the evening, an after dinner glass of port and platter of cheese lends itself to this interesting part of College life. Previous speakers include the Honourable Gough Whitlam, various musicians, The Governor of South Australia, art curators, brewers, doctors, nutritionists, agricultural scientists, climate change experts, politicians and many distinguished alumni.
A Mark’s style Oktoberfest, Marksenfest is a chance to sample various brews whilst enjoying a relaxing day in the sunshine with your friends. Visit www.marksenfest.com.au for more information on this year’s fantastic open event or join the Facebook group for regular updates.

Be part of the action – cooking the barbecue, cheering on the team in your College Colours whether we win lose or draw.
