Giving thanks to our Founders
On the Sunday closest to ANZAC day, it is customary for the College to raise a toast in Benedictine and give thanks for our Founders and Benefactors for their vision and dedication in establishing the College, now in its 93rd year.
Old Collegians, friends and students gathered to honour our patron saint, Saint Mark, who surrendered his life for the sake of the Gospel; our founders, visionary men like Sir Archibald Grenfell Price and the Reverend Julian Bickersteth; our benefactors, past and present, and the 20 Marksmen who sacrificed their lives in the cause of the freedom which makes it possible for us to enjoy the privileges conferred by this College.
We thank the College’s Chaplain who delivered an excellent Sermon which can be read in full here, and to the Choir who’s beautiful rendition of Do You Hear the People Sing was appreciated by those in attendance. Second year music student Ryan Casey performed The Last Post as we paused for reflection followed by Reveille.
