Application for Residence at St Mark's
Application for a residential place is a straight-forward, three stage process. St Mark's College only accepts students who are currently enrolled or intend to enrol at the University of Adelaide, the University of South Australia or Flinders University.
The Selection Committee seeks individuals who are committed to their academic achievement and who will contribute in diverse ways to the College residential environment.
To help you make an informed decision about your place of residence while at university, it is important that you take the time to research your accommodation options and, if possible, visit St Mark's prior to lodging your application. This is best done during the universities' Open Days which are usually held in August. If you are unable to visit St Mark's on Open Day, you are most welcome to contact the College and arrange a tour during working hours.
Application Form
All applications are completed online. Applications are normally received between August and November for residence in 2011 (February - November).
Photograph, References and Application Fee
During the online application process, you will need to attach one passport-sized photograph and two references. The two references (one academic and one personal) need to be completed on the proforma that can be accessed by clicking on academic and character reference. These completed forms need to be scanned, together with the passport photo, and attached to your online application. You will also be asked to provide credit card (VISA or MasterCard) details for the application fee of $50.00. Your online application will not be complete until all of these have been received.
Interview
After receipt of the completed application, the Selection Committee will determine whether the applicant is invited for interview. It is most advantageous to both the student and the College if the student can personally attend the interview. An interview is often not possible for students travelling large distances interstate and overseas and in these circumstances, a telephone interview will be conducted. All interviewed applicants will be discussed by the Selection Committee and students will consequently be either offered a place (that will need to be confirmed once a university offer is accepted in January) or placed on a waiting list that is reviewed on a monthly basis.
