Academic Support

There is a strong sense of community at St Mark's that includes our academic community.  Our academic program enables our students to share in the diverse intellectual and academic challenges of College life.

The key components of the academic program are:

  • the weekly tutorials conducted by senior students, graduate and postgraduate students and university lecturers and tutors.
  • a Peer Support program which provides students with one-on-one assistance relating to their studies. This group of senior students are also available to give feedback on first drafts of essays and assignments.
  • the mentoring program where all new students are mentored by senior students and senior staff with the aim of offering new students a supportive envirmonment that will motivate and challenge them to not only improve their academic performance but also to foster a cohesive college and university culture.
  • the professional development program of generic academic skills training that includes study skills, time management, and preparation of resumes for employment.
  • the contribution of visiting fellows who may assist, through occasional lectures and teaching, in the academic and intellectual growth of all students.
  • Wired Internet access in all rooms with support from Student Network Managers and an intranet with past exam papers and study notes from all faculty areas.

The extensive academic program is the foundation for the outstanding academic results at St Mark's. The high level of participation of all the students together with their commitment to the academic program contribute to the rich intellectual life of the College.

St Mark's provides an exciting and inclusive academic environment which enables its students to engage with people from a wide range of academic disciplines. This intellectual debate will help form and forge your thinking on local and global issues.  There are many opportunities to contribute to the academic life of the College and we encourage all students to take risks as they experience the intellectual diversity of the St Mark's community.
