St.Mark's College

The following pages on Students, the College Club Committee and College events were written by students of St.Mark's.

There are around 220 students living at St.Mark's - usually about half guys and half girls. Approximately 26% come from overseas (in the past we have had students from Canada, the USA, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan and Korea). Most Marksmen and Markswomen attend Adelaide Uni or the University of South Australia, some go to Flinders, and a few are enrolled at Tafe or other tertiary institutions. Chances are there'll be someone doing the same subjects as you, which is definitely an advantage when it comes to exam time!

All students automatically become members of the College Club, and at then end of each year they elect a President and Committee, for the next year. In a nutshell, the job of this insanely enthusiastic and dedicated bunch of students is to ensure that absolutely everybody in St.Marks' is happy and not too homesick - and if anyone is having any problems, there are plenty of people looking out for them, and plenty of people, both staff and students, they can talk to.

Pretty much the best thing about this place is the exceptional sense of community, and this is very closely tied in with a genuine pride in the College, its traditions and its members. It is the Committee who are largely responsible for maintaining this esprit de corps, and one of the main ways in which they do this is to organise an unbelievable number of social, sporting and cultural events throughout the year.
