Student Club Committee
The 2008 Committee
These are the students who are voted in to run the College; its social, cultural and sporting events. Essentially their role is to ensure that College is a hip and happening place to be, and that all students are fairly represented and having a good time.
The Executive -
President: - Jeffrey
Duncan
This is the College overlord whose job it is to enjoy having the best room at St.Mark's. Besides leading a life of leisure, pleasure and play, they must work closely with the College Admin to make sure they can see some method in the relative madness of some student events. As well, the President is the student body's face to the outside world. Basically, they chair all the meetings, keeps College spirit high and the Committee in line.
The Hon. Secretary:
- Jessica Conway
Lord knows why this is the only position to be called "Honourable", but honour is more in the hands of the holder, rather than in the position itself. Besides taking minutes at College Club and Committee meetings, the Secretary is the keeper of most College records - so if we want to know what not to do because it got us in trouble in the past, the Secretary should be able to tell us.
Treasurer: - Rebecca
Schultz
Holder of the almighty cheque book, they must try and keep the budget in the black. The Treasurer has to work with event organizers to try to keep the cost down for College students while still delivering copious quantities of food, drink, fun and frivolity.
Sports Secretaries:
- Jemimah Silvester and William Johnson
These people are crazed maniacs who were elected to the spot
because they truly believe that eating, sleeping and study are only sideline
activities at College - Sport is the true purpose of university life!
The Sports Secs organize our wealth of sporting talent into well-oiled
war machines that put the other Colleges to shame. Basketball, netball,
football, soccer, hockey, swimming, tennis, debating, cricket, volleyball,
table tennis and athletics are the sports in which they will lead us to
victory.
Social Secretary: -
Jordan Gray
Assists with the organisation
of social events and encourages students to participate in the events.
International and Equity
Officers: - Frances Adams and Michael Hogg
Together, these two people ensure international students have a smooth transition into Australian and, more specifically, College life and culture. The IEOs keeps their crew informed of upcoming events to ensure a maximum turnout of students for big College happenings. They also ensure College events and College life generally are thoroughly enjoyable for everyone, regardless of your sex, background, nationality, height, weight, hair colour, or preference in footy team. Their job is not to cut things out of events because it may not be perfect for a small group of students, but rather to expand the range of student activities so that everyone can get something out of the College.
General Committee Members: -
Geoffrey Adams, Brenton Clarke; Tyna Murray, Sarah Propsting, Rhiannon
Pulford, Kim Sanders, Alice Thomson, Matthew Woolford
These exceptionally talented people each organise two or three events throughout the year. Along with the Exec, they spend huge amounts of time setting up and packing up so that everyone has ridiculous amounts of fun at events.
